Air New Zealand receives Boeing 777-300ER with cuddle class

Air New Zealand took delivery this week of their first Boeing 777-300ER at Boeing's facility in Seattle. The new  B777 will feature the Skycouch  as well as the premium economy space seat. The interactive inflight entertainment system will allow passengers to order food and drinks through their personal TV screen. Wine tasting in one of the galleys and story telling for children in another one are just 2 of the new innovative features aboard NZ's latest airplane.Read the full story here

Continental Boeing 777 flat-bed BusinessFirst seats

Continental Airlines announced that all of its Boeing 777 long-haul, international flights now feature new flat-bed seats in its BusinessFirst cabin. CO currently operates the 777-200 on international routes between EWR and Beijing, Delhi, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London/Heathrow, Mumbai, Shanghai, Tel Aviv and Tokyo Narita, and between Houston and London Heathrow and Tokyo Narita. Customers flying to international destinations on CO 777s are now assured a flat-bed seat.

The flat-bed seats made their operational debut in November 2009 and are also being installed on CO’s fleet of Boeing 757-200 aircraft. CO will begin retrofitting substantially all of its Boeing 767 aircraft with BusinessFirst flat-bed seats in 2011.

Lufthansa introduces slimmer seats which will make room for 2000 more

Lufthansa will add almost 2000 more seats to it's single aisle fleet by end of 2011 by switching to slimmer seats. The new seat to be introduced during a presentation on December 15th will be more ergonomic and in a new design. It will be very similar to the new seats installed on 2 Austrian Airlines planes earlier this year and legroom will be boosted by up to 5cm according to a Lufthansa spokesperson.

Air New Zealand rolls out state of the art economy seat

Starting April 2011 on NZ's Boeing 777-300 those new seats, unique in the industry, will be available on selected routes. Seated in the space seat  watch movies or play video games on your personal 10.6'' wide touch screen and in case you d'like a snack to go along with favorite movie or TV program you can order it right from your screen.

Skyrider

Is this the future on low cost carriers such as Ryan Air? I guess still better then standing as previously announced by O'Leary but dismissed by the The European Aviation Safety Agency.
Comment from the designer of this seat called skyrider: 'The seat is like a saddle. Cowboys ride eight hours on their horses during the day and still feel comfortable in the saddle.'
